Flame Lab

Some metal ions can be identified by the color of their flame during the test. Different elements placed into a flame will turn the flame different colors. What metals do colors indicated?
Color:   Chemical Formula:  Name of Metal:
Purple- Kno3- K-Pattasium
Orange- COCl3- C-Colbalt
Red- Sr (no3)- S- Stratium
Green- Culc2- C-Copper
Yellow- Ba- B-Barium
Redish Yellow- LiNO3- Li- Kithium
Yellow Green- MgCl- Mg- Magnesium
1. What we were testing and the color that is produced.
2. It was not that hard.
3. They were all valiod.
4. The colors were purple, orange, red, green, tellow, redish yellow, and yellow green
5. K, C, and Li
6. What were are testing.

Scientific Observations- Skill Lab 1

Students looked did the lab to see what will happen.

Data:

1. 21 Degree Celsius
2. Blue Crystals
3. Green Crystals
4. Dissolving
5. Bottom warmer and the top is cooler on the outside of the beaker
6. 20 Degree Celsius
7. Fern Blue
8.The foil will make it hotter
9. 21 Degree Celsius
10. The Aluminum  melted
11. Color of water is red
12. Water is coming out clear from the filter
13.Bubbing in the flame hood
14. Color if the test tube is yellow from the fan
15.Warm
16.Warmer than before

Questions:

1. The water turned blue because of the Copper Chloride.
2. The solutions dissolved.
3.The foil melted because of the heat.
4. It made it rise when the foil left overs where in it.
5. It was blue at the end because all the solutions.

Oreo Cookie Lab

Students measured the filling in three types of Oreo Cookies to determine if filling amounts matched the advertising. The independent variable is three types of Oreos.

Hypothesis: Mega stuff has less stuffing than the double stuff.

Method:
1. We peeled off the middle part
2. Measured the mass from the mega, double and single stuff
3. Then we used the triple beam balance to measure the mass 4. We recorded the data that we got from the triple bean balance

Data Table:
Elements   Planets  Cars        Disney   Presidents   Ratio (cars)
Original:              3.27 g       4.35 g      3.129 g    11.1 g     2.85 g        1 : 1
Double Stuff        6.17 g        6.3 g      6.480 g   11.3 g      6.33 g          2.07 : 1
Mega Stuff:          8.96 g       9.04 g     9.35 g     17.7 g      8.90 g       2.99  :  1

Conclusion: The mega stuff ended up weighing more.
